Delete in the app

In the BirdBrain app for Android or iPhone, sign in, open the profile icon on the Home tab and choose Delete account. Confirm the request. The app shows a reference for your request, its status and when it is expected to be complete, and account access stops while cloud data is removed.

Signing out, clearing site data or uninstalling the app does not delete your account or cancel a membership.

Request deletion by email

If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, email contact@suncostlabs.com from the email address on your BirdBrain account with the subject "Delete my BirdBrain account". If you sign in with Google, use that Google account's email address.

We may ask you to confirm that you own the account before acting. We will reply to confirm when your request is received and again when deletion is complete.

What is deleted

Your cloud account and sign-in, email address, profile (name, handle, avatar and biography), learning history (study activity, quiz results, path progress and synced preferences), membership status, and the recordings you uploaded for identification or as contributions.

Deleting your account also cancels any membership renewal. It does not by itself issue a refund.

What is kept, and for how long

A minimal account identifier is retained so that old sign-ins or delayed billing events cannot restore a deleted account. It contains no profile, email or recordings. Billing records that must be kept for tax and legal reasons are retained by Stripe and Suncost LLC for the period the law requires.

Service logs and provider backups expire on their own schedules rather than immediately. Copies of accepted recordings that others already obtained under a Creative Commons license cannot be recalled.

Recordings stored only on your phone are not affected. Delete them in the app or uninstall the app to remove them.

Deleting some data without closing your account

To remove specific uploaded recordings, profile details or other data while keeping your account, email contact@suncostlabs.com with what you want removed.
